East Point Reserve is spread across an expansive area of 200 hectares. Among the total area a huge chunk of 30 hectares is covered by thick forest. The reserve is presently governed by the Darwin City Council. Apart from the greenery of the forest East Point Reserve, Darwin offers annual safe and enjoyable salt water swimming at the Lake Alexander. Other than these the spot also offers superb entertainment in the form of barbecue and picnic facilities in landscaped environment. The place is also has a military history from 1932 which is showcased at the different locations. A plethora of community and tourist facilities including the Royal Australian
Artillery Association Museum and the gun turret precinct complete the full circle of entertainment in the reserve.
The recreational part of the reserve is extended at the beaches of the place. The famed Fannie Bay Beach along with the adjacent parkland and barbecue area is regarded as the best family beach in Darwin for its unmatched facilities and ambience. The Dudley point at the reserve provides a superb uninterrupted sunset view along with a panoramic view of the Darwin City and the Fannie Bay.
