Tennis is a favorite game of the Australians and hence the city of Gold Coast
plays a major part in promoting and encouraging the game among the people of the
city. Tennis in Gold Coast is governed by an organization called Tennis
Gold Coast. This association is affiliated to two other major bodies called Tennis
Australia and Tennis Queensland. A large number of Tennis tournaments are regularly
organized here which offers a platform to the young sportspersons not only to
play this game, but also to make a mark for themselves at the state, national
and international levels.
There are a large number of Tennis clubs in this city where one can enroll
to learn the game and get all the necessary training that one needs. Some of
the major tennis clubs that one can find here include the Gold Coast Albert
Junior Tennis Club, Queens Park Tennis Centre, The Southsport School, Currumbin
Tennis Club and others. The clubs provide coaching to the budding tennis stars.
Children form the age of 11 are allowed to play this fantastic game. Regular
exercise sessions, seminars, coaching classses are also organized by these clubs.
A large number of tennis tournamnets are regulalry held in the city. One of
the major sports events at Gold Coast that is held over here is the Taylor Byrne
Head Junior Masters Tennis Circuit. It is held every year. The winners of this
event play in the state level tournament called the Queensland Junior Masters
Final. One can compete at the state level only after winning a minimum of five
tournaments. Gold Coast has produced a large number of famous tennis stars of
the country including the famous Samantha Stosur.
Tennis is one of the oldest sports of Gold Coast and hence watching a game
of tennis in Gold Coast is something that one should not miss while on a vacation
to this city.
