December to February comprises the summer season in Gold Coast. The temperatures range from 20°C - 28°C. Though it is uncomfortably hot this is the ideal time for beach activity. Gold Coast has some wonderful and pure beaches in the world. So if you want to take a sunbath or enjoy various sea activities like swimming, beach bumming and the like you must come to Gold Coast in summer.

The autumn months from March to May offer a bright weather for both indoor and outdoor activities like fishing and boating. The winters offer a lovely climate for golfing and bowling. Gold Coast is a holiday Mecca especially in the winter when the cold hits the lower third of Australia. But it is in the summer when many low-cost holiday deals are available, except during the Christmas season and long holiday weekends.

You must carry your clothing in accordance with the season of travel. Generally resort wear and lightweight clothing is suitable attire for Gold Coast's sub-tropical climate. Keep a jacket or pullover handy, as you may need it in the evening. Also carry a sturdy pair of comfortable hiking shoes if you're planning on doing any bushwalking through the National Parks and if you're going to be spending a bit of time on the beach, then sun protective clothing, a broad brimmed hat, sunglasses and sunscreen will save you from getting too much sun. One must also carry an umbrella in summer because there are occasional rains.
