Theatre Royal. Hobart: This is the oldest theatre in Australia and is a splendid piece of Victorian "bijou" architecture. It has been refurbished and modernized and the auditorium is beautifully decorated with intricate moldings and rich colors. In the early days this theatre has seen everything from cockfighting to musical performances. Today it stages many events including international ballet, opera, drama and live musical performances.
Louisa's Walk, Hobart: The ground is named after Louisa Regan who was convicted for seven years on stealing a piece of bread. The entire ground is used for enacting a play that relates the life history of Louisa. The actors and actresses walk around you as they enact the drama. You can get to know about Louisa's life after her years in jail and the play ends with a happy note. The show is performed daily from 2.15pm to 5.00pm. The story starts at Cascade Brewery and makes its way through the Female Factory where she was imprisoned and finally ends in the Cascade gardens. The journey takes place for 90 minutes and since it is an open ground, you are provided with umbrellas to protect you from sun or rain.
