Located in the charming Huon Valley it is about one-hour drive from Hobart city. Snowy Range Trout Fishery provides opportunities to its visitors to experience Trout and salmon fishing. The fishery has many ponds of different sizes. These ponds have large number of fishes like Rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon and Brown trout. You can also test your skills in angling in the pond of this fishery. Snowy Range also has a very popular Trout and Salmon hatchery, fish farm and a private fishery where you can get the opportunity to catch some plump trout. The working hatchery of the fishery approximately produces about a million of salmon eggs every year and about 100,000 rainbow trout.
Snowy Range Trout Fishery is the ideal place for any type of educational and vocational tours. This popular fishery caters to the needs of both the primary and the secondary students. Primary students can take part in activities like fish feeding; can also view the fish from close distance. The visitors can also try to catch some fish in this pond with a rod and reel. Secondary students may love to know about the water quality monitoring, the various stages of life cycle and growth of fish, fish husbandry and also about the fish health program. The secondary students may also try out catching some fish. In the Snowy Range Trout Fishery there is also a picnic and barbecue spot for about more than 30 students. The Snowy Range Trout Fishery remains open for the visitors all round the year.
The Fishery only remains close on Christmas Day. The fishery opens daily for
its guests from 9am to 5pm.
