By Bus
The buses run from Hobart to almost all the major towns in the state. The bus service can become sparse on holidays though. The most important bus service providers are the Redline Coaches, Tasmanian Wilderness Travel, Metro and the Hobart Coaches. The Tasmanian Wilderness Travel is quite a small bus company and takes people to some of the interesting places. The Redline Coaches operate on request if there is a requirement to bring passengers from the airport and back. The Metro runs the local bus system and most of the buses leave from the Metro City Bus Station.

The best thing to do would be to get a Day Rover Ticket when you arrive as it is not only convenient but cheap as well. Once you buy these tickets you can use them during all the weekends and during the off- peak hours.

By Taxis/Cars
A taxi or car can be hired, as these services are rather infrequent in Hobart. This poses a grave problem if you are in a hurry and you have planned a short stay in the city. There are innumerable vehicle rental companies in Hobart and getting a decent deal to suit your budget is not a problem. But if you are hiring a vehicle it would be a good idea to know the traffic rules.

By Bicycle
Hobart can be easily traversed by the power of the pedal. These can also be hired and it is one of the most popular means of travel. There are numerous outlets found all around the countryside and the hotel where you are staying.
