in 1824 by Peter Degraves. It is the oldest brewery in Australia and set against
the imperial background of Mount Wellington. This historic brewery produces the
finest quality wine in Australia. The Cascade Brewery organizes various kinds
of tours for the tourists. It is of great interest to beer lovers, connoisseurs,
heritage buffs and is a must see for any visitor to Tasmania.
The tours to Cascade Brewery are conducted several times every day round the
week. The tour duration is generally one and a half hours. The tour package
includes a look inside the workings of the Brewery, providing the tourists a
chance to see some of Australia's best loved premium beers brewed in the historic
brewery as well as a walk through the famous Woodstock Gardens and a tour of
the Cascade museum which includes an extensive range of historic pieces. The
last half and hour of the tour is the most interesting because it offers a tasting
session of the products.
But as the Cascade Brewery is a totally functional work place, therefore special
emphasis is given on safety aspects. The visitors are not allowed to wear thongs
and sandals. It is mandatory hat they should put on flat shoes. Covered shoes
are a must and anybody who is taking part in the tour must abide by the safety
regulations. One cannot put on shorts or skirts but instead long trousers must
be worn. As the tour involves considerable climbing it is not recommended for
people who use a walking aid.

The Cascade Brewery is open seven days a week. But it is closed on public holidays.
