Salamanca Place comprises of rows of sandstone buildings elegantly standing high from the 1830s. This legacy of the colonial times is a mix of Georgian and Victorian architecture. Initially a warehouse for the port of Hobart town, this area was once the center of all the trade and commerce in Hobart. Previously it is as called 'The Cottage Green'. With enormous historical and economical importance, the Salamanca Place has now become a center stage of all activities in Hobart.

- You can enjoy shopping at the Salamanca Market, which is held every Saturday. Pick up exquisite items from the three hindered odd stalls, selling every thing from artifacts to handmade clothes, jewelry, second hand stores, book stalls and even more. This market comes alive every Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 3pm.
- Experience the pulsating nightlife of Hobart. Enter the stylish bars, exciting pubs and vibrant nightclubs.
- You can also enhance your visit by going to the various art studios and galleries throughout the Salamanca Place.
- Do go to the nearby Battery Point, magnify the interesting architecture and feel the glow of the Golden sandstone buildings.
- Wander through the Kelly's Step, which was formed in 1839.
