Located on the eastern side of River Tamar is George Town, which is known for some wonderful Georgian buildings; some of the famous ones being Old Watch House, and St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church.
To the north of George Town lies Low Head, which has many old navigational lead lights for ships. Tourists may visit Maritime Museum and the Pilot Station- the oldest in Australia- in the region. East Beach situated near George Town is a wonderful place for surfing.

Pinot noir and chardonnay are the main varieties of grapes grown in the region. Further, there are other popular tourist places like Rosevears where one can try a hand at wine tasting in Strathlynn Wine Centre; for bird lovers Waterbird Haven Trust is a must visit.
