Prince Theatre was built on August 28, 1911. The Theatre served as a cinema
till 1970- the same year it was bought by Launceston City Council. The Princess
Theatre's association with public entertainment proved to be an illustrious
and an enduring one. Presently, the Princess theatre can accommodate over 1000
people. Some of its famous performances were Circus Oz, The Rocky Horror Show,
the Australian Ballet, the Sydney Dance Company, The Corrs, The Delltones, and
The Seekers. The Princess Theatre is under the management of Theatre North,
which is bound by a lease agreement with the Launceston City Council. Almost
everyone who has had a chance to visit the Princess Theatre has remarked on
the grandeur and magnificence of the theatre.

performers from across the world to perform in the city.
