Golf in Launceston

Golf is a widely played game in Launceston as is evidenced by the well maintained golf courses in the city. Established in 1910, Launceston Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country. The golf club now has a 6415 yard par 70 parkland course. Many consider the championship layout in the course to be the most difficult. Launceston Golf Club conducts many Open Competitions with unfailing regularity. The Competitions come with names like Better Ball, Seniors Open, 4 Man Event, 4 Man Texas Scramble etc. Besides having a shop which is stacked with golfing equipments and clothing from leading brands, the Club also offers tuition to those lately initiated.

Launceston Golf Club opens its membership to all both on annual or daily basis. The annual membership is little over £400 for men.

History of Golf in Australia goes back to the colonial days in the early nineteenth century.
