Bourke Street Mall Melbourne
One of the major roads in the Central Business District (CBD) in Melbourne, Victoria, Bourke Street was named after Sir Richard Bourke, the Governor of New South Wales in 1837. The street is famous for its commercial importance and the skyscrapers which lines up along the road. The shopping malls, which are abundant in the area, also make up for the attraction list of the street. One such mall is the prestigious Bourke Street Mall Melbourne.

The Bourke Street Mall is situated right in the midst of the various skyscrapers of the street. Being a commercial zone the street boasts of the facilities like the shopping malls, banks and other important services. The street is also home to the National Bank headquarters, Commonwealth Bank Centre building, Bourke Place, Marland House, National Bank House and AMP Square.

The street is a hot zone for the shoppers. The Bourke Street Mall stands like a moon among the lesser stars in the busy business zone. The street attracts thousands of locals and tourists everyday. The shopping facilities provided by the place are simply brilliant. Among all those the Bourke Street mall stands as a central feature of the place.

The famous mall falls in the midst of the busy street, which bisects the Central Business district also known as the Hoddle Grid. The street is home to many major retail stores in Australia and the Bourke Street mall is one of them. The mall holds two major departmental stores namely Myer (one of the world's largest) and David Jones along with other chains like HMV, Nike, adidas and The Body Shop. The mall showcases the famous neo-classical architecture. It is also known as the GPO Melbourne. The present day Bourke Street mall has been renovated to a high-end shopping paradise in the state of Victoria. The renovation took place after a fire incidence. It was reopened for the public in its new avatar in 2005 and got a major facelift during the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The mall just does not stand as a shopping paradise, but is used also as a performing stage for the buskers and the street theater performers. The large Myer Window remains a great attraction during the Christmas.

The mall is easily accessible by various tram routes. Tram number 86, 95 and 96 are the best way to reach the Malls.
