Burmese House Melbourne

Australia - Adelaide - Brisbane - Alice Springs - Cairns - Canberra - Darwin - Gold Coast - Hobart - Melbourne - Newcastle - Perth - Port Douglas - Launceston - Sydney - Townsville
Burmese House is a Southeast Asian bistro with a somewhat upscale ambience, excellent service and delicious food. This is one of the two restaurants on Bridge Road, which dishes the cuisine of the country, formerly known as Burma, now Myanmar. Standing at the crossroads of Asia, Burmese cooking is an exotic blend of Indian, Chinese and Southeast Asian influences.

The décor of Burmese House, Melbourne is simple but elegant. The warm tones, timber fittings and an ever-beaming host greet you with open arms. The Victorian shop front with brick and timber interior gives a very attractive look to the bistro. The upstairs is more refined, with polished floorboards and warm lighting. It is more fashionable and pleasant than downstairs. The upstairs also has a separate smoking zone for smokers. You can also invite your beloved here. The open kitchen sends out aromas of steaming delicacies throughout the bistro. The restaurant has fifty seats. As the venue accepts advance bookings, it is advisable to book your seat.

The Burmese House faces tough competition from the other Asian restaurants in Melbourne, but it manages to attract quite a number of visitors throughout the day. This is mainly because of its food and the rustic interior with bright and quirky teapot-shaped signage. Burma stands between India and Thailand and its food does too. In fact, the food of Burmese House, Melbourne is influenced by Thai, Indian and Chinese cuisines, which provides this bistro a cutting edge over the other restaurants. Exciting flavors and exotic aromas tempt adventurous Aussies into this simple exposed brick shop front.

The menu of Burmese House generally consists of fine egg noodles and slices of boiled egg lapped by a gunky, soulful curried fish soup, aromatic of turmeric and ginger, with coriander leaves and a lemon served on the side. You can always find this bistro packed with people munching on dishes ranging from authentic regional curries, marrow fritters with tamarind dipping sauce and more familiar sounding stir-fries. The food is fresh, with no animal fats or sugar used in the preparation, and definitely an excellent value for money. If you are a vegetarian, you need not worry either. You will get vegetarian delicacies as well at Burmese House in Melbourne.

This bistro is licensed to sell wine. The wine list is limited and cheap, with three house drops available by the glass. Wine is available by glass system and costs $3 corkage per person.
