The Colonial Tramcar restaurants, Melbourne started its operations in the year 1983 from the month of August. A 1927 W class tramcar was renovated and converted into a restaurant with a seating capacity of 30 people. Initially there was only one such restaurant. Later on 1948 SW6 class tramcars were added to the fleet of this mobile restaurant. The trams are burgundy in color and are the first tramcar restaurants of the world. Today, these restaurants have become one of the major tourist attractions of the city.

The interiors of the restaurants are well decorated and well maintained. The restaurants have all the features and facilities that one can find in any other top class restaurant in Melbourne. The floor is cover with burgundy carpets while the seats are covered with soft velvet. The restaurant is well decorated with flowers and vases and the doors have brass knobs. The restaurants are fully air-conditioned. Diners can enjoy piped music while enjoying their food in this fantastic restaurant.

The food served in this contemporary restaurant in Melbourne is extremely mouth-watering. One can go for a four-course, a three-course or a full-fledged five-course meal here.
