All about Surfest:

Surfest, Newcastle in Australia is an annual sports competition for surfing which takes place in Newcastle, New South Wales. It began in the year of 1985 which was an initiative, taken by the Newcastle City Council and was the world's most opulent surfing competition.

It runs for a span of thirteen days and from the current year 2007, it will be held at the Merewether Beach, as it has already taken place between Newcastle Beach and South Newcastle Beach in the past. Being the only international sporting event taking place annually, it beckons a lot of surfers, even more than 200 with many coming from the world over.

Former winners from this sporting event are; Mark Richards and world champion Kelly Slater.
Surfest, Newcastle is now a days the most talked about event in the world of water sports. Surfing involves a lot of strategy and dexterousness of the body maneuvers and a whole lot of energy.
