The Newcastle Mater Misericordiae Hospital belongs to the Sisters of Mercy Singleton and is also associated with the Hunter Health. This hospital is the principal centre for oncology (cancer) services such as breast cancer screening, haematology, melanoma prevention, diagnosis and treatment in the Hunter region. Apart from this the hospital also provides 24 hour emergency care service, clinical pharmacology & toxicology (drugs and poisons) general and specialized surgical including plastic surgery, liaison psychiatry, palliative and hospice care (care of the dying) and radiotherapy.

James Fletcher Hospital is a mental hospital with 86-bed facility and include services like psychiatry, Mental Health Services for Older People and a 24 hour Psychiatric Emergency Service including Psychiatric Intensive Care.

Morisset Hospital is another mental health centre with 130-bed beds.Services comprises of Neuropsychiatry, Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Mental Health Services for Older People.
