Third Ashes Test Match

The venue for the five test matches of the 2006-2007 Ashes series were Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. The Australian cricket team after wining the first two tests was pumped up to win the third test match that was played at Perth (the fourth largest city of Australia).
On the opening day of the third test Ricky Ponting, the captain of the Australian cricket team after wining the toss opted to bat. The bowling of Monty Panesar and Harmison got Australia out at the score of 244. Monty Panesar was the highest wicket taker, as he took five wickets and his five-wicket haul is the best wicket haul by an English spinner at Perth. The highest scorer for England on the first day was Michael Hussey as he scored a brilliant seventy-four. At the end of the first day England scored 52 at the loss of two wickets with Paul Collingwood and Strauss at the crease.
On the second day England lost four wickets in the morning session and just before tea England were all bowled out for a mere 215 runs. Petersoin's 70 runs could not deter the Australians from a getting lead of 29 runs. At the end of the second day the Australian cricket team scored 119 runs at the loss of one wicket with Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting at the crease batting at 57 each.
On the third day of the Ashes series though Ricky Ponting and Michael Hayden failed to score a century Michael Hussey and Michael Clarke both scored a century. Australia declared their innings when they were 527/5. The highlight of this day was the century of Adam Gilchrist, which was scored of just 57 balls. This century of Gilchrist is the second fastest century scored by any cricket player.
England started the match on the fourth day knowing the fact that they need to score 538 runs to win this test match. To the last day's score England managed to add another 80 runs with 9 wickets intact. Cook scored a brilliant 116 of just 290 balls and England ended this day at 265 /5.
On the fifth day or on the last day of this match a 50 by Pieterson as well as Flintoff (captain of the England cricket team) could not save England from defeat. Shane Warne got the last wicket of Monty Panesar and with this wicket Shane Warne's wicket total became 699. England managed to score 350 runs thus providing the Australians with a win by 206 runs.
This test match gave the Australians a lead of 3 - 0 in the Ashes Test Series that took place at the WACA Stadium, Perth.
