BankWest Tower

Australia - Adelaide - Brisbane - Alice Springs - Cairns - Canberra - Darwin - Gold Coast - Hobart - Melbourne - Newcastle - Perth - Port Douglas - Launceston - Sydney - Townsville
Until the completion of the Central Park Tower, the BankWest Tower was the highest skyscraper in Perth. The tip of its antenna reaches 247 meters above the ground. The construction of the BankWest Tower in Perth started in 1981. It was completed in 1988. The multi storied building was the headquarters of the R & I Bank and the Bond Corporation. With the collapse of the Bond Corporation and the renaming of the R & I Bank to BankWest, the soaring structure is today called the BankWest Tower, the must-sees in sightseeing in Perth.

The BankWest Tower in Perth is one of the most magnificent structures of modern time. The top of the tower is in the shape of a triangle. The longest side of this triangle (the hypotenuse) has numerous bay windows. This type construction helps in increasing the office area. The tower stands on top of the Palace Hotel which went through renovations to house it. The hotel was built in the 19th century at the time of the West Australian Gold Rush. The tower also houses a private apartment on the 51st floor.

In 2006 BankWest Tower announced that it will vacate the tower and move to a new building in Perth called Century City. It is located in the Perth Central Business District at the junction of the St Georges Terrace and the William Street. Today it is one of the major Perth tourist attractions.
