Tasmania, also cited as the 'Holiday Isle' has truly emerged as an extraordinary holiday destination for the world travelers.
You will surely have an invigorating experience while discovering the colonial villages, mist-capped rain forests, varied wildlife and unraveling the convict history of this place!
History - In the long past, about 20,000 years ago, Tasmania was inhabited by Tasmanian Aborigines. Tasmania was first sighted by a Dutch explorer Abel Tasman on November 24, 1642. In the Black War of 1800, the whole population of Tasmanian Aborigines was uprooted by the European settlers. Thus Tasmania experienced a convict past with the first European penal settlement in 1803, consisting of convicts and military guards.
Later Van Diemen's Land was named Tasmania (after Abel Tasman) in 1856.
