When to Visit Port Douglas

The months of December to February are notified as the summer months and experience
the highest amount of rainfall coupled with thunderstorms and tropical cyclone
at times. On an average the day temperature is 31 degree C and they vary as
per the humidity level. The months of March to May are the harbingers of the
autumn season and the level of rainfall is less while the average day temperature
compared to summer is one degree less. The months of June to August are known
as the winter months and offer a pleasant weather with a very degree of rainfall.
The day temperatures are comfortably soothing and sunny while the night remains
a bit cool. The day times occasionally remain hot as well. The average temperature
of the day remains 26 degree C with low humidity levels. Winters in Port Douglas
are considered to be the most popular time of the year to visit. September to
November is the months for spring season and the locals prepare for the upcoming
rainy season as days become hotter. This is also the right time to go for sight
seeing in Port Douglas and the average day temperature remains at 30 degree
C. In winter one can go scuba diving, snorkeling, rainforest tours and go surfing
the reefs which is just lovely in the pleasant climatic package while in summer
due to the arrival of the Box Jellyfish closer to the beach prevents the surfing
and swimming activities unless the protective nets are used and the Great Barrier
Reef is known to be free from the Box Jellyfish. The summer season also gives
way to the excellent waterfalls and gorgeous floral display and a plethora of
wildlife.
