CityRail is the main provider of rail services in the city. As far as long distance or rather interstate and intra-state traveling are concerned, one can board the trains from Central Railway Station. Ticket counters are open 24 hours a day thereby making it convenient for the tourists and travelers. Regular commuters can go for the rail passes while leisure travelers can go for the day-tripper ticket. Rates of the tickets usually start for rates as low as $15.40 per adult. For children it is $7.70 per child.

Apart from this, one can also avail the Sydney Monorail service to move around the city. It is an elevated transport system, which circles the entire city, and has a total of eight stops. The monorail carries around four million passengers every year. You can go to Chinatown, Darling Harbor, Pyrmont, Ultimo and other places. The Metro Light rail is another modern rail transport service available in the city. This has basically replaced the ancient trams of the city.
