The Eora, Guringai and Daruk Aborigines occupied the Sydney Harbour National Park area before the coming of the Europeans. As the European settlement increased the Aborigines were forced to retreat further away from their traditional habitat. The park is scattered and is made up of several islands and bush lands around the harbour.

The park now protects the aboriginal sites that include rock engravings, axe grinding grooves and the shell maiden sites. The attractions at the Sydney Harbour National Park include the beaches like the Washaway Beach, Reef beach, Obelisk Beach and Cobblers Beach.

The sandstone headlands, cliffs, rocky islands, bays and beaches make the Harbour National Park in Sydney one of the most beautiful stretches of water in the world. In order to experience the park's scenic beauty one can even go for sailing. The activities in the Sydney Harbour National Park include bush walking, canoeing and climbing. It has now become the chief attraction of the city and provides spectacular views and a variety of recreation options.

So while at the Sydney Harbour National Park don't miss out the Manly Ferry from the Circular Quay that is the most affordable way for harbour experience, go for a ferry tour to Fort Denison, visit the oldest living cottage in Sydney - the Cadmans Cottage in the Rocks, get to know the aboriginal history and also visit some of the beautiful islands in the Sydney Harbour.
