Cadmans Cottage came into being in the year 1816. Initially, it was alongside the water however after Circular Bay was constructed the Cadmans Cottage was no more alongside the water. This cottage was constructed with sandstone material. The Cadmans Cottage had played different roles at different points of time. At the time of its inception it was the house of John Cadman, who resided there with his family members. He was the coxswain of Governor Macquarie. Later, however, this place had served as water police station in 1847 and then as water transports headquarters, sailors home etc. The Cadmans Cottage was constructed in the first 30 years of colony and today it remains as one of the very few structures still standing in Sydney from that era.

The Cadmans Cottage is presently the Sydney Harbour National Park Information Center and offers information and bookings as well.
