Elizabeth Bay House is a very prominent house present in Sydney. The Elizabeth Bay House is supervised and operated as a museum by the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales. This house reflects the colonial architecture of Australia. This house belonged to Alexander Macleay, who at that point of time was the Colonial Secretary. This wonderful house was designed by John Verge, who had also designed other villas in the Woolloomooloo Hill's. The Elizabeth Bay House was considered as "The Finest House in the Colony" during that point of time.

The Elizabeth Bay House was constructed over a period stretching from 1835 till 1839. Initially, there was a hugh garden attached to this house. However, later the hugh garden was no more there due to the increase in settlement in that region.

The Elizabeth Bay House is beautiful looking house along with excellent interiors. The interiors constitute of furnishing from that period. The Elizabeth Bay House is also situated in a wonderful location. It looks across the Sydney Harbour as well. Reaching the Elizabeth Bay House is not a difficult task at all, it can be reached by car, bus or train. There is also a selective collection of Macleay's botany and insects which are in display in the drawing room and the library of the Elizabeth Bay House.
