The Elizabeth Bay House was constructed over a period stretching from 1835 till 1839. Initially, there was a hugh garden attached to this house. However, later the hugh garden was no more there due to the increase in settlement in that region.
The Elizabeth Bay House is beautiful looking house along with excellent interiors. The interiors constitute of furnishing from that period. The Elizabeth Bay House is also situated in a wonderful location. It looks across the Sydney Harbour as well. Reaching the Elizabeth Bay House is not a difficult task at all, it can be reached by car, bus or train. There is also a selective collection of Macleay's botany and insects which are in display in the drawing room and the library of the Elizabeth Bay House.
