This monastery is an important institution by itself and is associated with the Mahayana from of Chinese Buddhism. The house in which the monastery is located is nothing but a modified traditional house building.
Six monks and a nun reside in this building turned into monastery and a host of activities take place here.
These activities could range from special services which are held during the Chinese New Year where one is expected to chant Buddhist sutras. A small concert on Buddhist theme could also be arranged and members and visitors are expected to bring in and share vegetarian food. Such things are also held in other festive days and there are special arrangements for retreats also. These retreats are meant for people of all categories and there are special retreats for children that use that inculcate a lot of games and other fun activities.
Various religious activities are also held in this monastery on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, these are further supplemented by various Buddhist services and the best thing about the services is the fact that it is open to all members of the general public.
The monastery also has a special youth wing that organizes various activities for the kids and young adults. The monastery also houses a well stocked library where you can get about four hundred English books on the teachings of the great Lord Buddha. There are a several thousand books in Chinese also to disseminate information about Lord Buddha and his teachings.
Some books are meant for reference purpose only which you have to read only in the library while there are hundreds of other books which you can carry along to have a greater understanding of the Buddhist religion.
The library also has a number of audio cassettes in various languages including English which contain sermons and talks by famous venerables. This center also operates an educational institution to impart quality education to the people.
The monastery is open to visit from eight in the morning to six in the evening on all days of the year.
