Martin Place is one of the popular malls present in the city of Sydney. This pedestrian mall was started in the year 1891. This mall is in the Central Business District of Sydney which is a part of New South Wales. There are many heritage buildings in and around the place and along with the water fountain and the ANZAC Cenotaph, this place has become one of the most visited tourist destinations of Sydney. The Martin Place became even more famous after it was shown in the movie, Superman Returns. The Water Fountain was also shown in another famous movie, The Matrix. This place has also featured in other telemovies of Australia. Martin Place is highly popular amongst the tourists and other visitors of Australia. This place is located in-between Macquarie Street and George Street. Numerous fashion labels are present in this place. Martin Place can be reached via buses, cars or via rail. The stations that cater to that place are Wynyard & Martin Place Train Station. However, Martin Place is a traffic free zone and it has been since 1971. There are many popular events that takes place in Martin Place for example, the ANZAC Day dawn service that takes place at the Cenotaph on April 25th every year. Skateboarding is an exercise which is very popular in Martin Place. More so as it provides the exact pre-conditions required for ideal skateboarding tricks. The performing stage area is paradise for skateboarders and is also known to them as The Pit. The Commonwealth Bank has two of its historic buildings on Marti Place. The other important buildings are The Reserve bank of Australia Office Tower along with Sydney General Post Office. The MlC Center is also located there. Apart from these some of the other buildings are the Colonial Building, Australian Provincial Assurance, Henry Davis York Building etc are present there on Martin Place. Martin Place is a highly popular amongst the office workers, courier people etc and more so during the lunch hours. Hence, this place remains very crowded during that point of time. There are numerous cafes and restaurants on Martin Place as well as shopping centers, bars and other shops. The Westin Hotel is also located in Martin Place. The others important establishment that is present there is Macquarie Bank. Skyscraper buildings are also present there in Martin Place.
