Sydney, the capital city of the Australian State of New South Wales, has a huge number of tourist attractions, the beaches being the most important. Beaches are located all over the city of Sydney except for the region located in the western suburbs. The region that is covered between the Hawkesbury River in the northern area and the Royal National Park in the south comprises of a number of Pacific beaches. Beginning from the Palm Beach located in the north till the beach of Cronulla in the southern area, all the beaches are frequented by the locals as well as by the tourists'.

These Pacific Beaches are further classified into two categories comprising that of the north shore and the south shore. The important beaches located in the north shore are the Narrabeen, the Manly Beach and the Palm Beach. The famous and most popular Bondi Beach, Coogee and the Cronulla Beach are situated towards the south. Apart from this, there are varieties of sandy coves situated inside the harbor.

The Manly Beach is the longest beach in Sydney and is popular as a good surfing beach zone of 3 km. there are restaurants and eating places located in close vicinity of the beach consisting of Italian and Asian restaurants.

Coogee Beach is comparatively a small one and is the site of many hotels. The attractions of this beach are the restaurants along with the cafes that have open sitting arrangements.

The Narrabeen Beach is one of the world famous surfing beaches that attract a lot of surf-lovers.

The one that is located at the extreme end of the northern region is the Palm Beach. This is the most exotic beach of the city and is mainly frequented by affluent people and film artists.

The Freshwater Beach is one of the small beaches of Sydney and swimming is considered to be risky in this beach.
