Location Among the vast exotic beaches of Sydney, one of the frequented beaches is the Tamarama Beach. Located in the eastern suburb region of this city, the Tamarama Beach is just 7 Km in the eastern region of the Central Business District. It is in the south of the famous Bondi Beach and towards the northern area of the Bronte Beach. History The Tamarama Beach was previously known as the Dixon Bay by the European people and in 1800 the name was changed to the present one. The first amusement park by the side of coastal region was constructed in the year 1887 at Tamarama. It was named the Bondi Aquarium and its major attraction was a roller coaster that used to dive and then twist over the Tamarama Beach. People flocked to see the rides and the collected species of the aquarium consisting of tiger sharks and seals. Unfortunately the Bondi Aquarium was destroyed by fire, but with full energy it was restarted. The owners were changed after sometime and the Bondi Aquarium was changed to Wonderland City. But ultimately this was also closed in 1911 due to fights with the locals and other maintenance difficulties. About the beach The Tamarama Surf Live Saving Club was established in the year 1906 which is one of the first surf lifesaving clubs in the world. This beach is generally called as Glamourama by the locals and is one of the best beaches for sunbathing and swimming. The water of the Tamarama Beach is deep and its size is small, as a result it is considered as one of the most dangerous beaches of Australia. Swimming sometimes really becomes a risk in the waters but there are inspectors appointed who takes care of the visitors. At the back of the Tamarama Beach, a valley is located that is sand filled along with other parkland areas. Certain regions are allotted as picnic areas and families are especially seen crowding in these places. The beach is a narrow one and the Tamarama Surf Club is situated at the northern end of the beach. Inexperienced swimmers are warned against getting into the water. The wave climate of the beach is such that the rip currents are often present in the waters. Hence extreme precautions should be taken while swimming. Surfing and swimming are the two major attractions that attract the locals as well as the tourists’ to visit the Tamarama Beach. To experience a gorgeous and peaceful sunbathing, you can find no other greater place than this.
