It is reconstructed on a settlement that was there from 1810. The architect who built this historical park was Frank Fox. He built it up with the help of the Government and the bank of the New South Wales. The buildings are of colonial style and the most attractive feature of this theme park is the open air theatre that hosts shows related to the past. The replicas of these buildings were made of softwood. The replica of an old ship is presented there which was an important one in the past. A number of restaurants and food service is available within the park. The park was taken over by the entrepreneur Richard Chiu who generally was the operator of the theme parks in Indonesia. There was a rumor regarding this park that the land area would be used to redevelop the housing. But the manager of Old Sydney Town denied all such rumors. The park was facing tremendous loses and it was not being able by the administrative department to turn those loses into profits. As a result it was sold to Warwick in 2000. The maintenance of the park was becoming impossible and the budget was gradually failing. Moreover the fact that was most hurting was that the young generation of Australia was not interested to come and view the rich history and the past of their country. So it was an obvious fact that it was not possible for the Old Sydney Town to go on existing further without people coming to visit it. The glances of history were captivated in this beautiful theme park located in the Gosford region of New South Wales. But due to lose faced by the park, it was unfortunately closed down.
