This wonderful city of Sydney is located in the south eastern region of the country of Australia. The city is basically located in the coastal area and is popular for its beautiful beaches.
Sydney is bordered in the east by the Pacific Ocean, to the west by the Blue Mountains; towards the northern region the Hawkesbury River is located and to the south is the plateau of Woronora. The biggest natural harbor of the world is known as Port Jackson and is better known as the Sydney Harbor. In the urban region of Sydney the famous beaches are located along with the Bondi Beach. More than seventy harbors are present in the Sydney urban area and is an important tourist destination. These regions of Sydney are frequented by huge number f tourists' almost all through the year and hence are the busiest regions of Sydney.
The urban area covers 1687 square km and the metropolitan region is noted for covering 12,145 square km. This region generally includes the central coastal region and the area of the Blue Mountains. It also includes the swathes, some of the National Parks and few kilometers of land area.
Sydney comprises two main regions that of the Cucumber land Plain and the plateau of Hornsby. The Cucumber land Plain is located in a flat region that lies in the south-west of the harbor. On the other hand the Hornsby Plateau is a sandstone plateau that lies to the northern region of the harbor. The ancient regions of this city are usually located in the southern part of the harbor and the northern region has a slow development as it is a hilly area. The Sydney Harbor Bridge was constructed in the year 1932 and it connects the rest of the city with each other.
The city is influenced generally by oceanic climate as the location of Sydney is in coastal region. The summers are usually warm and the winters are mild with showers occurring almost all the year round. The ocean influences the climate to a great extent and extreme temperatures generally affect the western suburbs of the inland. The urban region of Sydney is divided into more than 300 suburbs that are location for postal addresses and is under 38 local governments.
Sydney is a great city to live in because of its favorable geographical location. It presents a good climate to the inhabitants along with numerous wonderful beaches. Hence this city attracts people all over the world and is worth visiting
