Baulkham Hills: History
The Baulkham Hills settlement began in 1794 when William Joyce, a pardoned convict, was given a plot of land by Governor Hunter.
Baulkham Hills was named by Andrew McDougall, who had migrated from Buckholm Hills in Scotland. The name was granted official recognition in 1902.
Education in Baulkham Hills was brought by Roman Catholic St. Michael's Denominational School from 1862. The school had to be shut for few years after its opening due to the lack of a teacher.
Baulkham Hills has a small shopping centre on Windsor Road. Owned by Stockland, the shopping place has two floors for grocery. However more shopping places are on the cards here.
Reaching Baulkham Hills
Baulkham Hills does not have a train station. The nearest train station is in Seven Hills. The road to Baulkham Hills is extremely well laid and remains busy with many bus services from the neighboring cities and suburbs.
The Baulkham Hills Junction is a crossway where major roads like Seven Hills Road, Old Northern Road and Windsor Road meet before they go on their winding ways again.
The public transport sphere in Baulkham Hills is maintained by Westbus, a bus company. It connects Baulkham Hills to nearby Castle Hill and Parramatta.

The festival is considered to be one of the largest festivals in Australia to be hosted by a community. Orange Blossom Festival was first inaugurated 36 years ago as a low profile garden competition.
