One of the oldest markets and shopping centers of Sydney is Paddy's Market. In fact, the city has two such markets one located in Flemington and the other in Haymarket. These markets specialize in the sale of flowers, fruits, vegetables, clothes, gift items, fish and other varieties of seafood.

Paddy's Market, Sydney is one of the oldest markets of the city with a history going back to nearly 150 years. The market was set up in the year 1834, when the governor of the city decided to move the traders of hay and grain near the new cattle market in Campbell Street in Sydney. The Flemington complex of the market was opened in the year 1975.

Paddy's Market is an open-air market. It operates from Thursdays to Sundays every week. The Flemington market operates from 10:00 in the morning to 4:30 in the evening, while the one at Haymarket operates from 9:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the evening. During summer holidays, the market operates for an extended period.

The market at Flemington's is the larger of the two markets. It specializes in fruits and vegetables. In fact, this market serves as the delivery point of these products for Sydney. A large number of farmers come to this market to sell their produce. One of the biggest features of this market is the Sydney Central Fresh Cut Flower Market, from where the florists of the city get their daily supply of fresh and fragrant flowers. The market also has a separate section, which deals with second hand goods. During the weekends, one can also find a large number of stalls selling clothes, gift items and souvenirs.

The Paddy's Haymarket is the older of the two markets and is located near Chinatown. It is more like a traditional flea market. This market is extremely popular amongst the tourists as one can get to find a large number of stalls selling small gift items and souvenirs. Apart from that, the market is particularly known for the low cost imported clothes that one can find over here. There is also a small section where one can find shops selling fruits, seafood and vegetables.

The vegetable, fruit and flower stalls are located on one side of the market while the other side is occupied with stalls selling clothes, electrical appliances, toys, jewellery, pets, home wares and other products. One can also find a large number of cafes and wayside food stalls in this market where one can get to eat traditional Australian dishes. Paddy's Market, Sydney is also surrounded by a large number of restaurants and a cinema complex where one can spend time trying out the gourmet delights or watching a film.

You can access Paddy's Market, Sydney by car. The market offers extensive car parking space to the customers. You can also reach the market at Flemington's by taking a train to Flemington Rail Station.

Paddy's Market, Sydney is a perfect place to shop if you are looking for low cost items.
