Queen Victoria Building, Sydney is one of the most famous and popular shopping destinations of the city. Located at the heart of the city's business and shopping district on George Street, attracts a large number of people everyday with its dazzling and glittering shops.

The Queen Victoria Building was built in the year 1898. It was designed by the famous architect George McRae. The site on which the building now stands was initially home to the George Street Market. The building was built as a monument dedicated to Queen Victoria, the reigning monarch of this place. The building houses coffee shops, showrooms, concert halls, tailors, florists, beauty salons, mercers and numerous shops. Extensive renovations were carried out in the year 1970 to restore the original grandeur of the building. The entire building is 190 meters long and 30 meters wide. Over the year the building has undergone extensive changes to meet the needs of changing times. The concert hall was converted into a municipal library and the offices of the Sydney City Council.

The building has a huge glass dome in the center with a copper sheath on the outside. There are large windows with stained glass and one can also get to see a cartwheel window, which depicts the ancient arms of the City of Sydney. The building is a grand example of Victorian architecture. Inside the building one can find two large mechanical clocks, a life sized figure of Queen Victoria in her coronation attire and an Imperial Chinese bridal carriage made of jade. Outside the building one can find a wishing well featuring a bronze statue of Queen Victoria's dog 'Islay ' On the southern end of the building one can find a statue of Queen Victoria.

This massive shopping center is a four storied building filled with a large number of shops. This massive and grand shopping center is filled with a large number of shops and boutiques selling jewellery, souvenirs, designer labels, fashion wear, children's apparels, specialty stores, gift items and others. In total, the building houses around 190 shops and boutiques. One can also find a large number of coffee shops, eateries and restaurants in this grand mall like Hokka Hokka, Queens Café, Malaysian Laksa House, The Tearoom and others. . On the ground floor you can find shops like Diva, Baku, Guess, Sunglass Hut, Visability and others, while the second floor houses shops like Midas, Mollini, Adidas, Oxford Shop, Sports Craft and others. Other famous shops include Camper, ABC Shop, Tarocash, Carina Jewelers, Esprit and others. Besides these, one can also find ATM counters, pharmacies, florists and other services over here.

Queen Victoria Building, Sydney, is indeed one of the best shopping centers of the city. The building is known not only for its fantastic and stylish shops but is also a fine example of Victorian architecture and thus a major tourist attraction.
