With Chinatown's varied and superb Yum Cha, it can be near impossible to make a choice in regard to 'which one'! Marigold Restaurant Sydney is the one that has a formal and ceremonial feel to it and is almost certainly smarter than the others. Over and over again placed in Sydney's Good eating guides, Marigold, a Yum Cha institution in Sydney's Chinatown, offers a wide range of dim sum at reasonable prices. Beyond the dim sum favorites which include siew mai and steamed pork buns, there is a wide range of prepared cuisine to please every taste bud. The century egg porridge is good and flavorful, the doufa (steamed bean curd) with a tinge of ginger is lovely (although a little too sweet), and the cheong fun with sugar peas is also very nice. The seafood also features with steamed chillie pippies and very nice salt-and-pepper calamari. Try the Chinese Claypot, anything in the fish and prawn department, especially Squab and Salt-Cured Duck. Valet parking is available in the building. The restaurant is like a conventional dim sum eatery, where the cuisine comes to you in pushcarts. Here you will get the food all fresh and hot. In fact, in some instances, the dish is even prepared right in front of your eyes. This takes place in case of the boiled eggs or fried rice rolls. If you want to enjoy your food in this restaurant, then its better that you avoid it in the weekends, these days are totally packed! The families or people have already made yum cha a regular fixture on their plan. It is best to arrive at the restaurant before 12:30pm, or else you may have to wait in queue while you watch the delicious food whizz past you. Even if the service suffers at times because of the crowd, the food is so delicious that it’s worth the trouble.
