Beit Al Quran in Bahrain

Considered to be one among the fifteen Middle Eastern countries that cradled the human civilization, the Kingdom of Bahrain is located in the Persian Gulf. More popularly known as Bahrain, this country is unique in the sense that it has no clearly marked border. Sandwiched between Saudi Arabia to the west and Qatar to the south, Bahrain is mostly covered by deserts. The economy of this country depends largely on petrol. Considered to be one of the richest countries in the Middle East, in terms of petrol and natural gas resources, Bahrain is equally rich in history and culture. The history of this predominantly Islamic country dates back to over five thousand years. Housing one of Islamic world's most treasured possession, that is, the holy Quran; Beit Al Qur'an in Bahrain is a religious site and a tourist place as well.

Beit Al Qur'an in Bahrain if translated means House of Quran. Manuscripts of holy Quran, the religious scripture of the Muslims were kept in this building. Though the Arab peninsula is Muslim dominated, no other country except Bahrain has a temple built to contain this scripture. Though Beit Al Qur'an in Bahrain contains the Quran, all visitors irrespective of religious beliefs are allowed to enter this beautiful building. The complex also contains a mosque, a library, an auditorium, a school and a museum as well. The museum at the Beit Al Qur'an in Bahrain has ten exhibition halls that offer a glimpse of the rare books, manuscripts and other religious motifs to the visitors. Inside the museum, Quran manuscripts from different parts of the Islamic world have been perfectly preserved. You can see manuscripts from non Islamic countries like China, Spain to that of strictly Islamic nations. Calligraphy, an important part of Islamic culture, too is represented through the works of the master calligraphers. This is a must see place in Bahrain.
