Cambodia is land of enriching heritage which has its own set of racial or cultural tie ups. The natives are restricted to a set of rules and protocols which define the culture of Cambodia . Greeting is an important aspect of Cambodian Etiquette wherein natives address to one other with palms folded as if in prayers. One is supposed to raise their folded hands and bow slightly in front of any guests or friends. This way of greeting is known as “Som Pas” in Cambodia. The greeting is usually accompanied with words like “Choum Reap Sur” which stands for Hello or “Choum Reap Lir” for good bye .

Shaking hands as seen in the western cultures, has of late become a part of the Cambodian Etiquette . One should address Cambodians by Lok (Mr.) or Lok Srey (Mrs.) along with their name, which is a sign of respect and honor. As per the custom in Cambodia, the head is the crucial and sacred as it where the intelligence and spiritual substance reside. It is considered a disrespect to touch or pat a person's head.

Gift giving is a customary ritual that is followed during the Cambodian New Year of Chaul Chnam and is highly a part of the Cambodian Etiquette. One should follow the basic manners in Cambodia wherein a native is supposed to wake up before sunrise or else he is considered lazy. Make sure to sit with your legs straightened down and not crossed else it is considered impolite. One should close their doors gently else one is known for its bad temper.

Elders are highly respected as per their seniority. While introducing make sure to start introducing the highest ranking persons first followed by others.

Business meetings in Cambodia follow a certain set of guidelines and rules. Punctuality is an important aspect of Cambodian Etiquette which is highly respected. Emotions play a negative factor during any kind of business meeting. Always exchange your business card, which is considered as one of the important etiquettes in Cambodia, once you are through with the formal introduction.
