Wallace started arranging exhibitions that showcased the works of Chinese artists from 1988. Later on his efforts took the shape of the Red Gate Gallery located near the Dongbianmen Watchtower. The Red Gate Gallery exhibits up to 8 shows every year and attracts art lovers from all over. Indeed, while sightseeing in Beijing, many choose to drop in at the museum and see what modern art means. It may also interest many that the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing offers Residency Programs that allow artists, curators, writers and academics the chance to live and work in China. For this purpose, the gallery has a number of apartments and studios that are offered to these people.
