Great Wall at Mutianyu Beijing

The Great Wall at Mutianyu is located at Huairou County at a distance of about 73 km from the northeast of the Beijing city center. The wall stands proudly between hilly mountain terrains from the southeast to the northeast for approximately 2.25 km. The wall connects with Juyongguan Pass to the west and Gubeikou to the east. The Great Wall at Mutianyu holds much importance in the Chinese military history.

The Great Wall at Mutianyu was initially constructed in the northern Qi Dynasty (550 - 577). In the early Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), the construction was restored and a pass was officially set up there. Again, efforts were taken to establish this well-preserved Great Wall at Mutianyu was as a tourist attraction in 1982. The work finally got over in 1986 and the area became AAAA national tourist attraction complete with cable car transportation.

This part of the Great Wall at Mutianyu is less crowded and rough compared to the popular Badaling. But at the same time, this part is greener as compared to any other part.
The Great Wall at Mutianyu is constructed primarily from Granite. The height of the walls is as high as 7-8 meters from the ground and the width is also 4-5 meters wide. This part of the wall has around 22 watchtowers built at some 100 meters interval.

The admission fee charged to see the Great Wall at Mutianyu is CNY 40 with cable fee of 35 an 50 CNY for single and round trip. If you are interested in slideway rides, you have to pay 55 CNY. The wall opens daily from 8: 30 in the morning to 6: 30 in the evening.
