Hall of Great Harmony (Taihe Dian), Beijing is an imposing double-roofed structure mounted atop a three-tiered marble terrace. This beautiful structure is located beyond Taihe Men and across a grand stone courtyard.
One of the largest wooden halls in China, Hall of Great Harmony, Beijing also the elaborate and prestigious of the palaces' throne halls. The place was visited by the emperor's during the occasions like New Year and winter solstice.
The Hall of the Taihe Dian or the Great Hall of Harmony is the main hall of the Forbidden City. It is 27 m (90 ft) high, 64 m (210 ft) wide and 37 m (120 ft) deep.
The hall has a roof with double eaves and is beautifully decorated with carved dragons and phoenixes.
The building is elegantly raised on a three-tiered terrace, 8 m (26 ft) high, and is enclosed by marble balustrades. The other buildings were deliberately kept low to set off the magnificence of the hall.
The row of ceramic figurines on the roof, led by a man on a chicken (a despotic and despised prince) fleeing a terrible dragon that heads a group of nine animal figures is another noticeable feature at the Hall of Great Harmony (Taihe Dian), Beijing.
