Deriving its name from the White Old Dagoba standing inside the temple, Temple of the White Dagoba (Baita Si), Beijing is considered as an artistic masterpiece and was completed under the supervision of the Nepalese architect.
Originally called the 'Temple of Great Holy Longevity and Eternal Peace', the temple was named Miaoyingsi after being rebuilt by the Ming Dynasty. But today it is more often referred to as the White Dagoba Temple.
The Temple of White Dagoba (Baita Si), Beijing has a long history, which is more than 700 years old. The temple was built in the year 1271 to 1279 during the Yuan dynasty and is a magnificent piece of architecture.
The temple mainly has a White Dagoba and four halls, which houses various collections like Buddhist statues, classical Buddhist scriptures, five Buddhas' crowns, flowery cassocks, colorful fabrics and other rare valuables.
Most famous of the collections is the golden Dagoba Longevity Statue at the height of 5 cm. with over 40 rubies. Besides, bronzy Kwan-yin Bodhisattva Statue is a beautiful structure with a thousand hands and eyes.
