Known, as the symbol of the People's Republic of China, Tiananmen Square was recently renovated for its 50th anniversary.

What makes Tiananmen Square in Beijing famous is that it was the site of key events in the Chinese history. In 1989, June 4th, heavy tanks and armored vehicles crushed all who came in their way and troops shot endlessly with machine guns at the crowds on the streets. Though there is no fixed number of deaths during the massacre, it is believed that thousands dies in the square alone.
