Chengdu Giant Panda Reserve Base
The Giant Panda Reserve Base situated just outside the city of Chengdu was opened in 1987 to conduct research and conservation program to secure the survival of this rare species and to save them from being extinct. Housing this shy and solitary animals, the Base was rewarded the honorary title of "Global Top 500" by the UNEP in the year of 1995. This achievement set the right mood and reason for observing Chengdu International Panda Festival. This festival is also aimed at upholding the ancient history and culture of Chengdu.
