Longchi Snow Festival Chengdu

Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan province, is one of the famous tourist cities in China. Snowflakes in the Sichuan provincial capital are particularly popular for their low density. The Longchi National Forest Park, situated 70 kilometers away from Chengdu is one of the popular venues of Sichuan ice and snow festival. This famous National Park stands within the State-level Longxi-Hongkou Nature Reserve in the Sichuan province in China. Spreading over an area of 320 square kilometers, the park lies 2,000 meters above the sea surface.

Longchi was the first spot to host the ice and snow festival in Sichuan province in the year 1985. From the Chengdu province two hour's bus journey will take you to the beautiful Longchi National Forest in Dujiangyan City. It is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in this part of China during winter. This park remains covered with snow for about four to five months in a year. The depth of the snow carpet varies from 50 to 70 centimeters during winter. Longchi National Park constitutes an ideal venue for snow and ice festival and skiing. Ice sculptures of Haerbin built inside the park attract a great deal of attention from tourists visiting the National Park in Longchi.

Other facilities offered by the park during the snow festival include deluxe ski motorcycle, complaint station, 120 first-aid centers and 110 emergency treatment centers. The Longchi National Park also runs 20 scheduled buses from the provincial center during winter to draw more visitors to the park.

During the Longchi Snow Festival the temperature in this region of China varies between minus 5 to minus 10 degree centigrade. With its tress and plants fully covered with snowflakes, the region seems like a heaven in white during wintertime. The spectacular winter scenery of Longchi, with trees and plants transformed into ice flowers and waterfalls into natural ice sculptures, will surely add to your pleasure.
