Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province is famous for its numerous festivals
and events. The city well known for its large pandas, also offers cotton-rose
hibiscus in endless supply. Situated in the western side of Sichuan Basin, in
the heart of Chengdu plain, Chengdu is one of the 24 renowned cities in China
with great historical significance. Besides being the political, economic and
military center, the city with its diverse range of cultural events constitutes
the cultural hub of the southwest China as well.
Country Tour Festival in Pixian County is one of the most popular festivals
in Chengdu. You'ai Folkways Village in the Pixian County of Chengdu offers a
picturesque view with its wide variety of flowers. The village is popularly
known as "a village with flower blossoming". It is also called "a peasants'
park without wall". The typical architectural design of the peasants' dwelling
houses and the spectacular gardens all over the You'ai Folkways Village is worth
mentioning.
The Pixian County-based You'ai Folkways Village in the western part of the Sichuan
Province has enough to draw your attention. The You'ai village in the Pixian
county was particularly identified for the promotion of agricultural tour in
west Sichuan.
The first country tour festival took place in You'ai village in February 1999.
Since then the Country Tour Festival in Pixian Country has become a regular
feature of the Sichuan Province. This Country Tour Festival with its folk art
performances, displays of traditional household utensils of peasants and flower
exhibitions, distinguishes itself from all other festivals in Chengdu.
Besides its humble exhibitions, the Country Tour Festival in Pixian County
is also well known for its other form of activities like traditional cultural
and business activities, wheelbarrow service, pushing the stone mill and walking
on stilts.
The Pixian County Country Tour Festival has been the focus of the series of
activities in the Chengdu ecological tour in 1999.
