The street in Chengdu, which depicts certain old culture of the city and also
has many entertainment centres is none other than the renowned Jinli Recreational
and Cultural Street. In ancient times, Jinli Street in Chengdu was one of the
busiest of commercial boulevards of the Kingdom of Shu, during the Three Kingdoms
Period (220-280). It is therefore known as the "First Street of the Shu Kingdom."
Jinli Recreational and Cultural Street as it is termed today is located is
adjacent to the Wuhou Memorial Temple, close to Yanshikou, the center of the
city of Chengdu. And the Jinjiang River lies to the north and the Rainbow Bridge
to the east.
Jinli, Recreational and Cultural Street, which reflects the diversity and beauty
of Sichuan folk customs and culture as well as and the Shu cultural relics of
the Three Kingdom Dynasty is renowned as Chengdu version of "Bianliang's
Pure Brightness Festival Fair".
The Jinli Recreational and Cultural Street by beautifully depicting the style
and spirit of the Sanguo culture has attracted tourists and consequently developed
into a famous tourist spot of Chengdu after it was opened on November 1st, 2004
to the visitors after its renovation. Lot of tourists comes to Jinli, Recreational
and Cultural Street to enjoy the cultural beauty of the place. The sale of local
art and crafts of Chengdu also makes the street a tempting place for the visitors.
It is also well known as a recreational street as centering the tourists plenty
of guesthouses, teahouses, pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants etc have developed
which not only serves the tasty local delicacies but also entertains people
with local music and dances.
These recreational centers are not only crowded by the tourists but the natives
also come here for relaxation and other social activities. The music clubs playing
live music and the teahouses which, along with offering genuine Chinese teas
as jasmine, Maofeng and Zhuyeqing also shows Sinchuan operas are the major centre
of attractions in this Jinli street. These reflect the local life, where nightlife
enjoyment is very significant and which also welcomes guests with immense warmth
making the visitors feel at ease. Jinli Recreational and Cultural Street is
now a very popular tourist spot of Chengdu.
The Jinli street, thus, by presenting the Chengdu's culture and by developing
itself as an important recreational centre of the city can be called Jinli,
