Chengdu is the capital of the "Heavenly State" -Tian Fu Zhi Guo. Located in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain, Chengdu covers an area of 12.3 thousand square kilometers or 4,749 square miles. It has a population of over 11 million. Chengdu is a significant center for politics, commerce and military. Chengdu is also a major tourism destination. Here you will find many ancient temples. One remarkable temple is the Temple of the Marquis of Wu.

The Temple of the Marquis of Wu (Wuhou Ci) is located in the outskirts of Chengdu, besides the beautiful Nanjiao Park. This temple is built in the memory of Zhu Ge Liang who was the Prime Minister of the Shu dynasty and also a war strategist. Zhu Ge lived during three different reigns. The famous historical novel Three Kingdoms written in the late Ming dynasty features Zhu Ge Liang.

There is a large statue of Zhu Ge inside the temple. Another important feature of the Temple of the Marquis of Wu is the Three Wonder Tablet. The name signifies the marvels of calligraphy, carvings and poetry that are so much a part of this temple. There is also the tomb of Liu Bei, the founder of the Shu dynasty. This place will intrigue those who have some knowledge on Chinese history. This temple draws tourists round the year. This is certainly one of the most exquisite temples in Chengdu.

The Temple of the Marquis of Wu, Chengdu is open daily. Visitors may come between 9 to 12 pm or 2.30 to 5 pm. The entry fee is a nominal RMB15. If one has to acquire knowledge on the glorious Chinese history, he should visit the various temples. The temples speak volumes about the Chinese history. A visit here will be a nice experience.
