Chengdu is the capital of the "Heavenly State" -Tian Fu Zhi Guo. Located
in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain, Chengdu covers
an area of 12.3 thousand square kilometers or 4,749 square miles. It has a population
of over 11 million. Chengdu is a significant center for politics, commerce and
military. It is also a major tourism destination. The Xiling Snow Mountain
range in Chengdu attracts lots of tourists every year.
The Xiling Snow Mountain range in Dayi country lies about 90 kilometers from
Chengdu and is a picturesque mountain range. It runs along a total area of 484.8
sq kilometers. The Xiling Snow Mountain is covered by snow through out the year.
Thousands of tourists come at this landscape every year to enjoy the beauty
of this place. You can ski and glide and also play on the snow to your heart's
content. The newly-opened skiing arena with six courses is a large winter sports
recreation ground in China. The summit of this mountain range is at 5,364 meters
above the sea level. If you stay in the tropical places and want to take a break
from the heat then you can come to this place for a respite and experience the
cold for a few days. Equip yourself with cardigans, jackets, caps, gloves, socks,
shoes and other warm clothes to shield yourself from the cold.
The Xiling Snow Mountain range is even visible from urban Chengdu provided
the sky is clear. It is a spectacular sight to see the snow capped mountain
peaks standing tall and looking down at the buildings. It is a national scenic
area known for its forests and alpine landscape. Here there are three spectacular
spots - Rizhaojinshan (The Sun Shines over the Golden Mountain), Yinyagjie (Yin
and Yang Worlds), and Senlinfoguang (Buddhist Halo in the Forest). Rows of tall
trees cover the entire expanse of the mountain range. Several kinds of vegetables
are grown and cultivated here. There is distinct distribution of vegetable according
to the seasons in which they grow.
