Things to See in Chengdu

Wu Hu Memorial Temple
Built as a tribute to the memory of Zhuge Liang the reputed political and military figure of the Shu State, this temple is a serene, peaceful place with an adjacent garden. You can enjoy a refreshing walk, take a cup of Chinese tree and view the pleasing show of bonsai-trees.

Qing Yang Taoist Temple
This major center of Taoism consists of eight trigram pavilion erected according to Ying and Yang Philosophy.

Wenshu Temple
Once the dwelling place of Cidu a Buddhist monk believed to be the reincarnation of Wenshu or Bodhisattva Manjusri was constructed during the days of Tang Dynasty. Known as the largest and best preserved monastery of the region, this temple is worth visiting.

Jiu Zhai Gou
Accredited by UNESCO as the natural heritage of the world and biosphere reserve, Jiu Zhai Gou is a scenic tourist spot.

Situan Opera
The legendary Chinese Opera is staged by the performers of the highest standerd in Chengdu. Painted masks, vibrant dresses, spitting fire and refined acting make the opera a wonderful experience.
Apart from the places described above there are other attractions like Chengdu Panda Reserve, Situan State Museum and the Grand Lehsan Buddha.

Shopping in Chengdu
Chun Xi Lu shopping Plaza near downtown Chengdu is a shopping paradise
for modern buyers. Another favorite shopping destination is the wholesale market of He Hua Ci where you can find separate divisions for garments, footwear, toys and other things. If you are good at bargaining then try the local street markets to pick up some authentic Chinese stuff.

Eating in Chengdu
Try some richly flavored hot and spicy dishes of the famous Situan Quisine in the restaurants of Chengdu. Another culinary delight is the "Hotpot" a delicious northern dish prepared with meat, thick sauce and vegetables. Do not forget to taste Chinese tea in local teahouses.

Nightlife in Chengdu
After a long touring session throughout the day, chill out in the local bars of Chengdu. Shamrock bar is a nice place to relax with beer, food, cocktail and entertaining games.
