Wolong Panda Reserve

The Wolong Panda Reserve is located to the east of Mt. Qionglai. From Chengdu, it would take about three hours to reach to the Wolong Panda Reserve. The entry fee to Wolong Panda Reserve in Chengdu is 20 Chinese Yuan. Spend some time A couple of hours in the panda research base are a great way to see this wonderful animal in their natural habitat. The Chengdu Wolong Panda Reserve is spread over a sprawling area of 494200 acres.
Wolong Panda Reserve of Chengdu was set up in the year 1958 by the Chinese government. The objective was to control the alarming rate in which this beautiful animal was slowly disappearing from the country. Wolong Panda Reserve started its operations in the year 1963. It is the first of its kind in China. Also, Wolong Panda Reserve is the most famous and the largest reserve for pandas in China. In the year 1980, it was made a part of the Man and Biosphere Reserve Network of UNESCO.
Today, there are about 150 pandas in Wolong Panda Reserve. Sixty-seven of them
are captive pandas. These pandas are managed and taken care of by the China
Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. Each year, tourists and
visitors from different countries come to Wolong Panda Reserve and enjoy seeing
the pandas in their natural habitat. What's more, you can take pictures of your
family and friends with an infant panda, adopt a panda or can even name one
of them.
