Longchi National Forest Park

Located 70 kilometers away from Chengdu, Longchi National Forest Park can be reached on a 2 hour bus ride from Chengdu. The park covers a mammoth 320 square kilometers area. Rightly termed as a "natural botanical garden", this park is home to more than 3000 kinds of plants and provides a safe sanctuary to over 350 species of animals.

Longchi National Forest Park houses giant panda. Feeding on bamboo leaves, this extremely shy species is rarely seen in their natural habitat. Apart from panda, this park provides a safe sanctuary to the snub-nosed monkey. The dove tree is another major attraction in this park.

The scenic beauty of Longchi National Forest Park is however no less an eye candy. Walking on foot you would come across gurgling streams, lush green vegetation and flowers with all possible colors. The park is 2000 meters above sea level and this ensures a pleasant 15 degree centigrade even during summer. During winter, Longchi National Forest Park receives enough snowfall. In fact the park receives so much snow during winter that the park authority decided to hold the first ever Longchi Ice and Snow Festival in 1985.
